Special Guest: Tess McMechan

Tess McMechan is a highly sensitive person whose early life was shaped by trauma, low self-worth, and a dysregulated nervous system. Her twenties were marked by toxic relationships, substance use, and a near-death experience following complications from surgery. That brush with death, along with chronic illness and the loss of much of what she once clung to, became a profound turning point. Life—and her body—forced her to turn inward.
What followed was a deep healing journey rooted in spirituality, somatic therapy, shadow work, and self-inquiry. Guided for three years by a teacher from India, Tess learned to live more from the heart than the mind and gradually moved from surviving to truly living. She later returned to school with a focus on social work and addiction recovery, while continuing to pursue education and training far beyond the classroom.
Since then, Tess has worked with women in recovery and currently serves as a therapist at one of Canada’s leading recovery homes. She has trained in Compassionate Inquiry, Dr. Gabor Maté’s therapeutic approach, and has studied shamanism, somatic healing, ancestral work, and belief work.
Today, through her private practice, Tess supports people in unraveling old identities, healing childhood trauma, and reconnecting with who they are beneath the pain. Alongside her work within her local community, she serves an online global clientele, bringing together her professional training, lived experience, and holistic approach to healing.
